Acupuncture for Bloating
Acupuncture can be very effective for treating gas and bloating giving both immediate relief as well as helping to correct the underlying problem that is causing the bloating.
Many conditions can cause abdominal gas and bloating - if food material doesn't move through the GI tract as intended, gases are released which causes the distention and feeling of bloating - sometimes it can be so severe that it is painful.
If the acidity in the stomach isn't high enough, or if there is inadequate bile and/or enzymes, then food isn't properly broken down in the stomach so when these materials move into the intestines it can wreak havoc on the system.
Acupuncture can help give immediate relief of bloating by increasing circulation to the intestines and regulating peristalsis (the movement of the intestines) - patients often comment that they can feel or hear "their tummy talking" within moments of acupuncture points Large Intestine 10 and 11 (both on the arm) being inserted.
More long term, acupuncture can help correct the underlying problems that are causing the bloating by helping to regulate peristalsis, gastric juices, and other digestive secretions needed for proper digestion and proper absorption of nutrients.

Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine can be very effective treatment options for Heartburn and Acid Reflux.
As with many symptoms, acupuncture can give both immediate relief of heartburn symptoms as well as work on the underlying issues that are causing the heartburn to occur. More often than not, patients experience an immediate reduction in discomfort, and leave the office symptom free.
More long term, we need to help the body to repair the damage that the reflux has caused, as well as preventing further damage to occur. Most often, acid reflux is caused by the stomach not having enough acid, bile, and/or enzymes to properly break down food materials. This leads to food staying in the stomach too long, and it literally begins to rot which releases the acids that cause reflux and heartburn. If this continues and becomes chronic, then the flap that keeps the stomach contents from going back up into the esophagus gets damaged and further compounds the issue.
Reflux can also be caused by the body producing too much stomach acid (rare), or by an infection like H. Pylori.
A thorough investigation of your symptoms will help to determine what is causing your heartburn and will navigate how your treatment plan will look.
Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, and/or Functional Nutrition Supplements may be used to treat your reflux and repair the damage it may have caused.

Acupuncture for Hemorrhoids
Acupuncture treatment for hemorrhoids is very effective. The acupuncture treatment can give instant relief from the pain and itching from hemorrhoid pressure, while also treating the underlying causes.
Acupuncture can help the blood vessel's structural integrity, regulate digestion for easier bowl movements, and aid in tissue repair.
Sometimes Chinese Herbs, supplements, and/or diet changes are required for tissue repair associated with hemorrhoids - a thorough health exam and consultation will allow us to assess your condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan to help you get fast, lasting relief.
