Choosing the right nutrition supplements can feel overwhelming. Shelves are filled with countless brands and products, each promising to support your health. But how do you know which ones truly work? At our clinic, we take this challenge seriously. We carefully select every supplement we offer based on solid science and real-world results. This post explains how we curate our selection to help your body heal and thrive.

The Power of Clinical Nutrition Beyond Vitamin Deficiencies
Clinical nutrition is more than just filling vitamin gaps. It uses targeted nutrients to support the body's natural healing processes. Nutrients act as building blocks and signals that can change how your cells function. This means supplements can have therapeutic effects, helping with issues like inflammation, stress, sleep, and more.
We focus on functional medicine principles, which look at the whole person and how nutrients influence body systems. This approach guides us to choose supplements that do more than just provide basic nutrition—they support your unique healing journey.
Why No Single Brand Does It All
You might notice that our shelves feature multiple brands instead of just one. This is because no single company makes every nutrient in the best form for every purpose. I'm not going to call out any companies by name, but let's just say that there are some products from specific companies that I LOVE, but others from the same company that I am shocked with their ingredient, source, combination, or other detail about that products.
Our standards are high, but for a reason! The wrong supplement AT BEST is giving you expensive urine and nothing else, and at worst is harmful :(
How We Choose Each Supplement
Our selection process is thorough and ongoing. Here’s what we consider:
Scientific Research
We review the latest clinical studies and evidence to understand which nutrients and forms work best. This includes reading peer-reviewed journals and attending seminars.
Bioavailability
The nutrient must be in a form your body can absorb and use effectively. For example, some vitamins need to be in their active form, while minerals require specific chelates.
Source and Sustainability
We prefer supplements made from sustainable, natural sources. This supports environmental health and often means fewer synthetic additives.
Delivery System
How the supplement is delivered matters. Liposomal, sublingual, or slow-release forms can improve absorption and effectiveness depending on the nutrient.
Clinical Experience
We consult with physicians, scientists, and manufacturers to understand real-world results and safety.
Affordability
While quality is our priority, we also consider cost. When multiple brands offer the same effective product, we choose the more affordable option to keep supplements accessible.
We'll also consider what form is appropriate for you and your condition. For example, magnesium comes in many forms, but not all are equally effective for every condition. If someone needs magnesium to help with anxiety or sleep, we select liposomal magnesium threonate. This form crosses into the central nervous system and absorbs quickly, providing fast relief. For general more magnesium support, this form isn't necessary and a different form might be more appropriate and cost-effective, so we will always tailor our suggestions directly with you and your needs in mind.
This variety ensures that each supplement matches the specific needs of your body and condition.
Examples of Our Curated Choices
Vitamin D
We select vitamin D3 in an oil-based liquid or softgel that is combined with oilive oil (REAL olive oil) for better absorption. Research shows this form raises blood levels more effectively than dry tablets. We will also ensure that it is derived from sheep's wool, or lanolin, as research suggests that it is the ONLY form that our bodies will actually use - you may absorb and raise your blood serum levels with other sources, but your cells won't be actively using it for work.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Our omega-3 supplements come from sustainably sourced fish oil, purified to remove heavy metals. We choose triglyceride forms for better bioavailability and pay close attention to how it is packaged for shelf life and stability. Our cell membranes are made directly from the oils that we consume, and I don't know about you, but i'd rather my membranes NOT be made from rancid oils.
Probiotics
We offer multi-strain spore based probiotics with clinically studied strains. The capsules are designed to survive stomach acid and release bacteria in the intestines. We carry several different strains and combinations of strains because they all do different things. We also carry several because we do GI MAP testing to see what important critters you need more of so we need the products that will match your need.
Magnesium
As mentioned, magnesium threonate is chosen for nervous system support, liposomal if you need it to have a bigger punch all at once (or if absorption in the GI tract is a concern), while magnesium citrate may be used for general support in conjunction with constipation, or glycinate or malate chelate may be used for muscle relaxation and/or general support in absence of constipation, etc. (there are many nuances with magnesium).
Why Quality Matters More Than Price
Some supplements cost more because they use superior ingredients and manufacturing processes. This can mean better absorption, fewer fillers, and more consistent potency. We believe investing in quality pays off by delivering real benefits.
That said, we balance quality with affordability. If a less expensive product meets our strict standards, we choose it. Our goal is to make effective supplements available without unnecessary cost.
