Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 27, 2026 Last updated: August 27, 2026
This policy explains what GoodMedizen PS Inc., doing business as GoodMedizen Acupuncture and Herbs (“GoodMedizen,” “we,” “us,” “our”), collects when you use goodmedizen.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it.
We are a healthcare practice, so two different sets of rules apply to two different kinds of information about you. Knowing which is which makes the rest of this page make sense.
1. Two kinds of information, two sets of rules
Your medical record is protected health information (PHI), created when you become a patient — your intake forms, chart notes, lab results, treatment plans, and billing records. PHI is governed by HIPAA and by Washington’s health care information law, and it is described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, which you receive at intake and can request from us at any time. Where PHI is concerned, the Notice of Privacy Practices controls, not this page.
Everything else is website information — what you do on goodmedizen.com, what you send us through a contact form, your newsletter subscription, your loyalty account. That is what this policy covers.
If you are not our patient, only the second set applies to you.
2. What we collect
Information you give us:
-
Name, email address, phone number, and mailing address
-
Appointment requests and the reason for your visit
-
Messages you send through our contact forms, email, or text
-
Newsletter and marketing sign-ups
-
Member account and loyalty program details
-
Payment information, entered directly into our payment processor’s systems — we never see or store your full card number
-
Anything you volunteer in a form field, including health details you choose to share before becoming a patient
Information collected automatically:
-
IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system
-
Pages you visit, links you click, how long you stay, and the site you arrived from
-
Cookies and similar technologies used by our website platform for site function, security, and analytics
Information from other sources:
-
Our scheduling system, when you book or reschedule
-
Insurance eligibility checks run with your plan before your first visit
-
Referral information, when someone refers you and you tell us who
3. How we use it

To schedule, confirm, remind you about, and follow up on appointments
-
To answer your questions and provide the care and products you ask for
-
To process payments and bill your insurance

To meet our legal, licensing, tax, and recordkeeping obligations
We do not sell your personal information or your health information. We do not share it with data brokers, and we do not trade it for advertising.
4. Cookies and analytics
Our site runs on the Wix platform, which sets cookies necessary for the site to work — session management, security, load balancing, and remembering your preferences. We also use analytics to see aggregate traffic patterns: which pages get read, which get ignored.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Essential cookies can’t be turned off without breaking parts of the site, such as booking and member login. We honor Global Privacy Control signals where your browser sends one.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that make the practice run, and only what each one needs:
Provider
What it handles
Wix
Website hosting, forms, member accounts, loyalty program
Jane
Scheduling, patient records, clinical documentation
Square
Payment processing
QuickBooks
Accounting and invoicing
Fullscript and dispensary partners
Supplement orders you place through them
Email and text messaging providers
Appointment reminders and, where you opted in, newsletters
Providers that handle protected health information operate under a signed Business Associate Agreement obligating them to HIPAA standards. We have a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement in place with Wix.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it — a court order, a subpoena, a licensing board investigation, a public health reporting obligation, or a mandatory report. If our practice is ever sold or merged, patient records transfer to the successor practice as permitted by law, and you would be notified.
6. Washington consumer health data
Washington’s My Health My Data Act gives Washington residents specific rights over consumer health data — health information that falls outside HIPAA, including inferences drawn from your activity on a website. Because our condition and treatment pages are health-related, information about what you read here can qualify.
Under that law you have the right to know what consumer health data we collect and why, to withdraw consent, and to have that data deleted. Those rights and how to exercise them are described in our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy. We do not sell consumer health data, which the act prohibits without a signed authorization.
7. How we protect it
-
Sensitive data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
-
Access is limited to the staff who need it to do their jobs.
-
Our clinical, payment, and hosting platforms are HIPAA-compliant and covered by Business Associate Agreements.
-
Staff receive privacy and security training, and our practice reviews access periodically.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by HIPAA and Washington law.
8. Email, text, and other unsecured channels
Email, text messaging, web forms, and social media are not fully secure. Please do not send detailed health information or anything urgent through them. Use the patient portal for clinical matters, and call us for anything time-sensitive.
You may opt out of marketing messages at any time — unsubscribe in any email, or reply STOP to a text. Appointment confirmations, reminders, and account notices will continue, because they are part of your care.
9. How long we keep it
Patient records are retained for the period Washington law requires of healthcare providers, and longer where a legal or licensing obligation applies. Website and marketing information is kept only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, or until you ask us to delete it. Billing and tax records are kept for the period tax law requires.
10. Your rights
-
Access and copies. Request a copy of your record.
-
Correction. Ask us to correct something that is wrong.
-
Deletion. Ask us to delete personal data, subject to the records we are legally required to keep.
-
Restriction and accounting. Ask us to limit certain uses of your PHI, and request an accounting of disclosures — these rights and their limits are detailed in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
-
Marketing. Opt out at any time.
-
Complaint. File one with us, with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights, or with the Washington State Attorney General. We will never retaliate for a complaint.
Email office@goodmedizen.com or call (206) 402-3813 to exercise any of these. We may need to verify your identity first — that protection is for you.
11. Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them online. Minors are treated as patients only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, and their records are handled under Washington law, which gives adolescents independent rights over certain categories of their own health information.
12. Links to other sites
Our site links to third parties — our scheduling system, dispensary platforms, research sources, and others. Once you leave goodmedizen.com, this policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We update this policy as our practice and the law change. The current version is always posted here with its effective date. Material changes affecting how we handle your information will be communicated directly.
